WORKING PARTY SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER 2015

The next Bilton Conservation Group Working Party will take place on Saturday 31st Oct 15 The location is a 300 metre Section of the Harrogate Ringway Footpath approaching the Nidd Gorge where we will be cutting back grass and overhanging foliage.

MEETING PLACE - CAR PARK NEXT TO YORKSHIRE WATER TREATMENT PLANT (Bottom of Batchelor Gardens Harrogate)

TIME 09:30AM until 12:30pm

All tools will be provided including gloves but bring you own wet weather clothing and substantial footwear, plus a snack & a hot drink. Anyone interested in taking part please call Keith Wilkinson on 01423 564708 to be included on our insurance cover.

VERY URGENT BALSAM BASHING GRANGE QUARRY

Help the natural flora by removing Himalayan Balsam and improve the habitat. We have organised a balsam bash at Grange Quarry, Harrogate on Saturday 27/6 and 4/7 9.30 to 12. Meet at Pets at Home, Skipton Road car park. Please bring your own gardening gloves. All welcome.

Christine is a leading figure in the very successful “Starbeck in Bloom; an annual event which has become a mainstay of the larger “Harrogate in Bloom” project.

19th November

 

David, a former member of our committee, is a speaker for the Woodland Trust. He will take us on a tour of Hackfall, a hidden gorge with 18th century grottos made famous by the landscaper of Fountains Abbey…..

These talks are scheduled to start at 2:15pm. The talks are open to the public and not confined to BCG Members all are most welcome. A donation of £1.00 pp would be appreciated towards the cost of room hire, the speaker and refreshments.  A raffle is also held at the conclusion of the talk.

Plans for the 2017 programme of speakers are on hold for the time being in the light of falling attendances.

Nidd Gorge Family Events Programme 2015 

Nature’s Spring Fireworks!  Sunday 3rd May   10am  -  4pm
Nidd Gorge is a picture in the early spring,  come and find and I.D  the flowers, blossoms and catkins of this beautiful woodland next to the river Nidd.

Arty Animals  Sunday 30th August 10am  - 4pm
Late summer and the woodland is full of life, sights and sounds, let the residents of the woodland inspire you to help create a woodland art gallery.

Tree hunting   Saturday 24th October 10am – 4pm
Do you know your oak from your hazel? Woodland experts will help you create your  own fun mini tree guide and collect a seed to grow at home. 

Festive Fun Saturday 19th December 10am – 3pm
With Christmas just round the corner use natural materials from the woodland make your own unique festive decoration to brighten your home.
